Camiant Signs on Brazilian Operator, Opens CALA Operations

Appoints Luis Ramirez de Arellano, Latin America Regional Director

MARLBOROUGH, MA and MEXICO CITY--(Marketwire - April 20, 2010) -  Camiant Inc., the leading provider of policy control technology, today announced that a major Brazilian mobile operator has selected its Multimedia Policy Engine (MPE) over competitive offerings. To date, over 30 operators around the world have selected Camiant's policy control solution, compliant with all 3GPP* Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) specifications, for dynamic management of internet/broadband networks. The company also unveiled it has opened its CALA (Caribbean and Latin America) headquarters in Mexico City, Mexico with additional resources in Brazil and has appointed Luis Ramirez de Arellano, Latin America Regional Director of Camiant. The company will be exhibiting its best in class policy control solution at the LTE Latin America 2010 Summit on April 27-28, 2010 at the Hotel Intercontinental, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

According to Analysys Mason's "Strategies for mobile broadband in CALA: forecasts and analysis 2009-2014," the number of mobile broadband connections in the region will increase to 34 million by 2014. The largest market in 2014 will be Brazil with 18 million connections, the next largest will be Mexico with 4 million connections. The number of mobile broadband connections are also expected to peak in 2010 as MNOs (Mobile Network Operators) meet pent-up demand.

"MNOs in CALA have a tremendous opportunity to create a new and profitable revenue stream from mobile broadband, but they must be very careful to match spend to demand," said Matt Hatton, research director at Analysys Mason.

Camiant's MPE was selected by the Brazilian operator to dynamically manage their bandwidth, and enable them to offer revenue-generating new services along with new rate plan enhancements that better align revenue and network cost. Camiant's MPE allows for real-time visibility and control over bandwidth and enables operators to effectively segment their various markets with differentiated services and offer subscribers superior application performance.

Responsible for leading Camiant's CALA expansion is Luis Ramirez de Arellano, a 16 year seasoned industry veteran who brings a wealth of experience to Camiant in sales, operations and business development. Prior to joining Camiant, Inc., he was Country Manager at Starent Networks (now part of Cisco) where he built successful relationships with leading operators including America Movil, the leading provider of wireless services in Latin America. Previously he was Global Account Manager at Comverse, Latin American Regional Manager at Digital Lightwave and Country Manager at Alcatel.

"Camiant continues to build on its excellent reputation for best-of-breed, vendor-neutral policy control and we are delighted to have been selected by a leading Brazilian operator," said Ed Delaney, Camiant's President and CEO. "Luis' management experience with regional tier one wireless companies and his expertise in developing emerging new markets, is a strong asset to Camiant's growth and expansion. We are excited to have Luis join the team and confident that Camiant's solution will help regional operators immediately leverage the capabilities they have in their existing network equipment and systems and provide them with the infrastructure for new revenue opportunities."
