Canadian Cancer Society: Corner Gas Stars to Co-Host Patches of Hope 2005 Quilt Auction

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 5, 2005) - Gabrielle Miller and Janet Wright from the CTV hit comedy Corner Gas will co-host the Patches of Hope 2005 Gala Quilt Auction on Thursday, October 13.

More than 100 beautiful quilted works from across the province will be up for auction at the Patches of Hope 2005 Quilt Auction. The gala event is set for Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Queensbury Convention Centre, Regina Exhibition Park. The preview begins at 6 p.m. and the auction starts at 7:15 p.m.

An exciting addition to this year's event is the auctioning of a special table topper/wall hanging created by several Corner Gas cast members. Corner Gas stars Gabrielle Miller (Lacey), Nancy Robertson (Wanda), Janet Wright (Emma) and Fred Ewaniuk (Hank) all contributed to this piece. Finishing touches were provided by quilter Jean Freeman of Regina, who appears occasionally on Corner Gas as Granny Jensen.

"We are thrilled to have Corner Gas participating in this year's auction," says Brenda Caswell, the event chair. "We anticipate lively bidding on the Corner Gas quilt. It's a great memento of a Saskatchewan success story".

Another highlight of the evening will be the auctioning of a celebrity quilt. In keeping with the province's centennial celebrations, some of Saskatchewan's best-known personalities gathered recently to create a quilt titled 100 Years of Heart. The group of celebrity quilters included Rory Allen, Doris Knight and several media personalities. The complete list of celebrity quilters is available on the Patches of Hope website at

Quilters from across the province and as far away as British Columbia have donated an outstanding collection of quilted works, many in honour of cancer survivors or in tribute to those who have lost their lives to this devastating disease.

Tickets for the October 13 event are $20 per person, available at all Saskatchewan Canadian Cancer Society offices, including the Regina office at 1910 McIntyre Street. Tickets are also available at the following locations:

Brown Communications Group (2275 Albert Street)
