Canadian Children's Exercise DVDs to Get American Kids Fit

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 25, 2007) - The U.S. based Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a joint venture of the American Heart Association and the William J Clinton Foundation, has reviewed and approved two Canadian-produced DVDs to be the first used in America's classrooms to get kids exercising, sweating and smiling.

"We're delighted," said Robb Lucy, producer and founder of www.eyelearner.com, where the DVDs can be seen. "We have a fabulous role model in Judy Howard who knows how to get kids moving... and we have the enthusiasm of thousands of Canadian teachers who love the DVDs," he said.

The two approved DVDs are "6 Fit Kids' Workouts" and "Get Strong 101". A third DVD, "65 Energy Blasts" will be assessed later this fall.

The Alliance's goal is to fight one of America's leading health threats - childhood obesity. It aims to stop the increase in childhood obesity by 2010 and inspire all young people to develop lifelong, healthy habits.

"We are so appreciative that our schools will have access to these quality resources," said Ginny Ehrlich, National Schools Director, Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

In the next few weeks Eyelearner's DVDs will be sent to selected schools in Florida, New York and California as part of the Alliance's 'Healthy Schools Program'. With the DVDs in use, success stories will be collected and emailed to all schools participating in the Alliance's program. These stories are meant to act as helpful tools for other teachers to get their kids active.

"Ultimately, we hope this approval encourages teachers and parents to get their kids working out in front of the TV, and not just watching it," said Lucy. "And they'll take those new skills outdoors too," he said.

Eyelearner's kids' exercise DVDs are a major component of ActionSchools! BC, an initiative in over 1300 British Columbia schools affecting 325,000 students. The DVDs are also in thousands of other classrooms across Canada.
