Canadian Consumers Rank the Weather Network & Meteomedia's Weather Forecasts #1 in Canada

Independent Television Quality Survey (TVQ) shows Canadian consumers rank The Weather Network and MeteoMedia's forecasts ahead of conventional networks

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 15, 2009) - For the eighth year in a row, Canadian consumers ranked television weather forecasts from The Weather Network as the best available in the country. The 2009 Television Quality Survey (TVQ), conducted by Canadian Media Research Inc., is an independent study that surveys consumer attitudes towards television programming.

According to the study, over 70% of Anglophone cable and satellite subscribers ranked The Weather Network as the "station with the best forecast", ahead of CTV, Global, CBC, A Channel and CP24. Nearly 79% of Francophone cable and satellite subscribers chose French language counter-part MeteoMedia as having the best weather forecasts, ahead of Radio-Canada, TVA, LCN, and RDI. This is the fourth year that MeteoMedia has been included in the study.

The TVQ survey is a national survey designed and executed by Canadian Media Research Inc. The sample frame was provided by BBM Analytics, a subsidiary of BBM (Bureau of Measurement), using a Return-to-Sample (RTS) methodology. The 2009 TVQ Survey involved a sample of 1,542 Anglophone and Francophone respondents aged 18-plus. The survey has a margin of error of +/-2.6%, 19 times out of 20.

English Consumers Rank The Weather Network as #1 for 8th consecutive year

Canadians have consistently voted the forecasts provided by The Weather Network as the best on television. The latest study conducted in October & November 2009, revealed that over 70% of English speaking cable and satellite subscribers consider the television forecasts provided by the broadcaster are the best available.

MeteoMedia forecasts consistently voted the best

Overwhelmingly, nearly 79% of Francophone cable and satellite subscribers who were asked their opinion on the best television forecast chose MeteoMedia, the French language counterpart of The Weather Network. Included in the study for the fourth consecutive year, MeteoMedia has consistently ranked the best among Francophones.
