Canadian Forces Welcome 45 New Recruits

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 5, 2009) - Forty-five enrolees from the Ottawa and Gatineau area joined the Canadian Forces (CF) during an enrolment ceremony today at the Cartier Square Drill Hall. The ceremony is another important event in continuing with CF efforts to increase its recruiting intake.

General Walt Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff, officiated as the new recruits took the Oath of Allegiance or made the Solemn Affirmation.

"I am extremely proud to welcome the new recruits to not only the CF, but also to the CF community and family," said General Natynczyk. "As they enroll today, they are becoming part of a team that works together to help make a difference here at home and abroad."

Upon successful completion of basic military training at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, these new soldiers, sailors and airmen and airwomen will go on to complete their occupational training at a variety of CF training establishments across Canada.

As part of the Canada First Defence Strategy, the CF is committed to growing its force to achieve the Government's defence objectives in Canada, on the continent and internationally, as well as positioning them for future growth. In order to achieve this growth, the CF is committed to remaining an employer of choice for Canadians, by providing exciting employment opportunities, excellent training, fair pay and benefits and focuses on family and quality of life issues. The CF offers both full and part-time opportunities in over 100 different careers.
