The Canadian National Committee for United Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM) Launches New Regional Chapters

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 22, 2010) - The Canadian National Committee for UNIFEM is pleased to announce the launch of two new chapters across Canada.

The Canadian Committee for UNIFEM is a volunteer driven organization based in Ottawa. Its mission is to advocate for gender equality, to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS among girls and women, to reduce violence towards women and to strengthen democratic participation of women in peace and in war. To achieve these goals, the Committee advocates and fund raises in Canada for UNIFEM.

Almas Jiwani, President of The National Committee of the United Nations Development Fund for Women, is pleased to announce the launch of two new chapters across Canada.

The Montreal Chapter is lead by Danaletchmee Mooneesamy (President), Rosemary Mukoro (Vice President), Florence Sean (Secretary) and Pulchérie Nomo Zibi (Treasurer). 

The Toronto Chapter is lead by Megan Sanford (President), Amreet Kaur (Vice President) and Alex Syrnyk (Treasurer). 

These two new chapters join the continuing chapter in Winnipeg, which can also be contacted at winnipeg@unifemcanada.org.
