Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission: Revised Notice of Hearing

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 17, 2010) - Following the recent decision by Hydro-Québec to reschedule its refurbishment project of the Gentilly-2 Nuclear Generating Station, Hydro-Québec has requested that the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) reschedule the August 18, 2010 public hearing to a date to be determined later. A revised notice will be issued as soon as the new dates for the hearing are confirmed for Hearing Day-One and Day-Two. A new deadline for the public to file interventions will also be announced.

Hydro-Québec's application is to renew and combine its operating licences for the Gentilly-2 nuclear reactor and its solid radioactive waste management facility in Bécancour, Québec. The hearing was originally scheduled to take place on August 18, 2010 in Ottawa, Ontario and November 3-4, 2010 in Bécancour, Québec.

Hydro-Québec and CNSC staff will file updated documents in regard to this application.
