Canadian Tourist Destination Implements LMR Integration for First Responders

DALLAS, TX--(CCNMatthews - May 24, 2006) -

Two-Way Radios Integrated Into IP Telephony Deployment Using Cistera's LMRConnect™ Solution

Cistera Networks (OTCBB: CNWT), the leading provider of advanced IP phone application platforms and engines in the Enterprise VoIP Telephony environment, today announced that it has completed installation of the IPT deployment that includes its LMRConnect™ application engine for integrating two-way radios to an Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) installation.

The District of Squamish in British Columbia selected the Cistera solution to facilitate communications between emergency responders. Squamish, which is located between Vancouver and Whistler, and considers itself the outdoor recreation capital of Canada, needed a way for the Emergency Operations Centre to coordinate the response of ambulance, fire, public works, search and rescue teams, and police to emergencies. The District implemented the Cistera ConvergenceServer™ (CCS) as the application platform. They added the LMRConnect and Cistera's broadcasting application engine, RapidBroadcast™, to their deployment of a Cisco Unified CallManager IPT solution and Cisco IP Interoperability and Collaboration System (IPICS) infrastructure. On an as-needed basis, the Emergency Operations Centre can immediately enable communications between all responders with this combined solution in place.

"Not only does this set-up allow us to coordinate and link radio traffic throughout the district, we have found in some cases we were able to use Cisco phones instead of adding the expensive radios in stationary sites."
