CanalHouse Productions Announces the Los Angeles Premiere of "Emma," a Documentary Film by Valerie Krex, at the LA Femme Film Festival on October 7th at 12:00pm

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 20, 2006 -- At 12:00pm on October 7th, 2006, at the Wilshire Screening Room in Beverly Hills, the LA Femme Film Festival will screen the L.A. premiere of "Emma," an edgy documentary film that will inform both adult and teen audiences in the Los Angeles area.

"Emma" is the coming of age portrait that follows fourteen-year-old Emma Carney through her turbulent first year of high school in Missoula, Montana. Largely shot in the first person, Emma begins to document her experiences following her release from an adolescent mental health unit after a suicide attempt. Struggling to stay afloat in the public school system, Emma candidly details the obstacles surrounding her adolescence as well as her methods of escape.

This hour long non-fiction portrayal of an at-risk teen not only serves to debunk the many myths propagated by the mainstream adolescent movie genre but also succeeds in truthfully defining the contemporary teenage experience. At turns shocking and heartwarming, "Emma" provides a direct window into one teen's existence. Director Valerie Krex adds, "'Emma' is an important film not only for teens themselves but also for parents, educators and social workers seeking to further understand the motivations and struggles present in contemporary teenage society."
