Cantronic's Patented Infrared Illuminators Selected for Major Subway System in Northeastern United States

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 8, 2007) - Cantronic Systems Inc. (the "Corporation") (TSX VENTURE:CTS) today announced it has been awarded a contract for over 700 units of its Infrared long-distance active night vision illuminators to be used in a large project for a major subway system in Northeastern United States. This sale was made through Cantronic's marketing partner, Videolarm Inc., a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera and accessory manufacturer. This sale represents the single largest quantity of high-end illuminators that Cantronic Systems Inc. has made to date. The illuminators will be delivered and installed in early 2007. The net contract value to Cantronic is in excess of $CDN330,000.00.

The Infrared long-distance active night vision illuminators were purchased for a major government contract with one of the biggest security and defense system designers and integrators in the United States for use in a large subway system in a major metropolitan area in the Northeastern United States.

"Subway and transit system safety has become an important concern following the London subway bombings. Our product readily addressed the safety needs of this particular situation and shows our ability to move our products in large volume for major projects such as this," said James Zahn, President and CEO of Cantronic Systems. "This installation involves what will be an extremely busy subway system where operators may not be able to see all objects in their path due to darkness underground. Our infrared illuminators emit invisible infrared light, empowering CCTV surveillance cameras to view objects not normally visible to the human eye. Even in complete darkness, the operators are able to see it through CCTV cameras and are provided with the needed time to safely react to the circumstances. The net result is that Cantronic's night vision illuminators may prevent costly accidents and human lives in subway tunnels where darkness is a big factor."

Designed for CCTV applications, Cantronic illuminators are created to produce clear night vision images for security surveillance. Cantronic's proprietary design allows evenly distributed illumination, very low power consumption, and are lightweight and weather resistant. The 950 nanometer model selected for this installation is a high-performance illuminator that emits an invisible red light at 950 nanometers, delivering the farthest viewing distance and long life (more than 10,000 hours) of any 950 nanometer infrared illuminator currently available on the market. The inventors credited with the invention of the illuminator technology include James Zahn, President and CEO of Cantronic Systems Inc.

"The Cantronic Infrared Illuminator technology is a perfect solution for this project," said Ray Pagano, President and CEO of Videolarm, Inc. "Cantronic's illuminator provided the long-distance range needed for the application and it integrated well into the system. We are delighted about this partnership with Cantronic and look forward to working together on more government contracts in the future."

Combined with an infrared sensitive CCTV camera, the Cantronic's illuminators produce a night-time or covert surveillance system ideal for military and law enforcement applications as well as for airports, government facilities, border and harbor patrols, railways, nuclear facilities, and any other facility that requires a high level of security.

"This transaction reflects the demand for heightened security and surveillance technology, and we are well prepared to serve this rapidly growing market," added Zahn.
