Cedar Point's SAFARI C3 Achieves "Buy American" Status From USDA Rural Development Agency

Allows Rural Service Providers to Purchase Cedar Point VoIP Switch Using Government Financing

DERRY, NH--(Marketwire - August 4, 2008) - Cedar Point Communications, a worldwide leader in integrated Voice over IP (VoIP) switching technologies for communications providers, announced today its SAFARI C3 Media Switching System has been accepted and listed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) for use in its Rural Utility Service (RUS) loan program for funding broadband network deployment projects. RUS certification authorizes Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) and rural communications providers to use funding from RUS grants and loans to purchase Cedar Point's equipment.

Rural carriers face numerous challenges including remote subscribers, limited staff and capital. The SAFARI C3 Media Switching System is an ideal platform for rural carriers to evolve their networks to provide Voice over IP (VoIP) services that deliver greater average revenue per user (ARPU) to consumers and businesses. SAFARI C3 provides superior performance and reliability, significantly reducing capital expenditures, system integration and operations costs for providers of telephony services while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.

"Our RUS certification makes it possible for all carriers, regardless of their size or footprint, to offer advanced new VoIP services to rural communities while conserving capital and expense dollars," said Chris Zanyk, vice president, North America sales for Cedar Point Communications.

Cedar Point has shipped more than four million SAFARI C3 lines to customers in the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. SAFARI C3 supports up to 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic yard of space, incorporating all of the components that make up the voice switching infrastructure. It is being deployed for residential and business services by a diverse customer base that includes Cable System Operators, Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), Wireless Operators and Universities.
