Celebrities and YouTube Users Come Together at YouTube Live, YouTube's First Ever User Event

Performances by Katy Perry,, Esmee Denters, Lisa Nova and More Were Viewed Millions of Times via Live Stream

SAN BRUNO, CA--(Marketwire - November 24, 2008) - YouTube™, the leading online video community that allows people to discover, watch and share originally created videos, celebrated the YouTube community at its first official user event, YouTube Live, on Saturday night. With more than 50 YouTube and real world personalities, YouTube Live featured all that YouTube has to offer including bedroom vloggers, budding creatives, underground athletes, world-famous musicians, gut-busting comedians and more.

Tay Zonday put his memorable voice from songs such as "Chocolate Rain" to use as YouTube Live's announcer and Mike Relm rounded out the event as house video jockey. The show was streamed live at, a first for YouTube and, in the first 24 hours, YouTube Live videos have generated an additional 2,500,000 views. YouTube Live highlights include:

--  Katy Perry kicked off the live show performing her hit song "Hot 'N
    Cold" with some help from Juan Mann (Free Hugs), Tom Dickson (Blendtec) and
    Chad Vader priming the audience for a night of collaboration between some
    of YouTube's most memorable stars.
--  William Sledd and HotForWords coined a new term for the night
    "Scrumtuescent" -- an awesome event that is impossible to describe.
--  Joe Satriani, Freddie Wong and Funtwo performed a Guitar Hero-inspired
--  Chascaleigh, Keith Powell, Katrina Bowden and Brandon Hardesty checked
    in from Virgin America's official YouTube Live party plane to introduce
    Brandon's "Dark Knight" reenactment.
--  Discovery Channel's Mythbusters brought Leonardo 2.0 to life --

    taking the stage to perform his latest single "It's A New Day."
--  The Vlog Squad, comprised of William Sledd, Tay Zonday, Michael

    on the backstage happenings and scored major interviews with the likes of
    MC Hammer, Dax Flame, Fred and Smosh, to name just a few.
--  Michael Buckley cheered on Miley Cyrus's 15th birthday and Jon Chu

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom presented Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan the premier YouTube Visionary Award in recognition of her efforts -- via online video -- to rid the world of the stereotypes and misconceptions associated with Arab and Muslim communities. The YouTube Visionary Award was established to highlight those who use YouTube as a global platform for positive social change.

Activision brought the YouTube Live! audience into the Guitar Hero® World Tour experience with gameplay kiosks, live demos, and other attractions to promote the Guitar Hero World Tour launch this fall.
