Christie® Named 2009 Regional Award Winner for New Technology in Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 1, 2009) - Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters today honoured Kitchener's Christie Digital Systems Canada, Inc. with the 2009 Innovation Award for New Technology.

"Christie's leading-edge innovation in the area of advanced projection technologies and digital media has earned the company a reputation of a global leader," said Ian Howcroft, CME Ontario vice president. "CME and NRC-IRAP are proud to honour a deserving company like Christie - a company that displays the unique and innovative capacity of Ontario enterprises."

Christie® is a leading provider of advanced projection technologies and digital media displays for professional markets. From Houses of Worship to Hollywood, mission critical command centers to classrooms and training simulators to Broadway - Christie captures the attention of audiences around the world with dynamic and stunning images.

Christie has developed the world's first LED (light-emitting diode) simulation projection system that simultaneously renders simulated environments in both the visible and infrared spectrum. Known as the Christie Matrix StIM™, the projection system was purpose-built from the ground up for the simulation training industry and offers the most realistic visuals for training in mission-critical applications, such as first-responders and where lives are at stake. Simulators have traditionally had to compromise between projecting visible and night-vision imagery. Christie is making this possible for the first time in a single integrated scalable system.

HLS HARD-LINE Solutions of Dowling, Ontario and Wind Simplicity of North York, Ontario were also honoured as finalists of this awards competition.

The 2009 Regional Award for New Technology recognizes innovative excellence in the development and application of new process manufacturing technologies in Canada. IRAP's ITAs work with SMEs across Canada to help increase their innovative and technological capacity.
