Chrysalix Announces First Four Investments in New Cleantech Fund

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 9, 2009) - Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital, the global venture capital firm focused on early-stage clean energy technologies, announced today four new investments from its latest fund. This new fund, Chrysalix Energy Limited Partnership III (CELP III), has made investments in Brammo Motorsports, Plas2Fuel, General Fusion, and Primus Power. With these four new investments Chrysalix continues to be one of the most active cleantech venture capital firms in the world.

"With the launch of this new fund, we are now identifying and investing in some of the most exciting opportunities in today's very attractive clean energy industry," said Wal van Lierop, President and CEO of Chrysalix. "These innovative companies offer game-changing technologies and we are proud to be working closely with them as they grow into successful ventures."

Chrysalix recently invested in Brammo Motorsports, an Oregon-based company producing North America's first production ready, street electric motorcycles. Chrysalix was co-lead in the Series A investment alongside Best Buy Capital. The company has just launched its first product, the Enertia electric commuter motorcycle, which will be distributed through the Best Buy chain of stores.

Plas2Fuel has developed the world's only technology to convert all streams of waste plastic back to synthetic crude oil. The company has recently signed the first known waste to oil off-take agreement with a major US oil refinery, validating the technology and opening new markets for their valuable and flexible end-product. With producers of waste plastic struggling to find alternative solutions to landfills or incineration, Plas2Fuel's waste plastic conversion system promises to provide an economic solution while producing a valuable output product.

General Fusion is developing a utility-scale fusion engine using a new, patent pending concept based on recent developments in fusion research called Magnetized Target Fusion (MTF). MTF has been building momentum in the fusion community since the 1970s. It is General Fusion's goal to demonstrate this new clean, safe and economical concept by 2013.

Primus Power is a large-scale energy storage company with very low cost battery technology, enabling greater penetrations of intermittent renewable energy generation and enhancing the reliability of the electricity grid.
