Church of the Resurrection Hosts 2nd Annual Christmas Village

WHEATON, IL--(Marketwire - November 17, 2009) - Is it possible to get your Christmas shopping done and make a real difference in the world at the same time?

The answer is yes, Church of the Resurrection's Christmas Village, a festive holiday event for the whole family, is the answer. Christmas Village will take place Saturday, November 21, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Church Ministry Center, located at 1825 College Avenue in Wheaton IL. At Christmas Village, shoppers will be able to peruse various booths where gifts for our missionaries and the communities they serve will be available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to give these gifts in honor of their loved ones for the holiday season.

A sampling of opportunities available includes: goats for families in India, a year's worth of transportation for school children in Nigeria, a solar panel in Chad for a medical clinic, and tuition to cover sewing, bead work, and fabric painting classes for single mothers in Brazil.

Families can also enjoy a live Nativity scene, petting zoo and listen to music provided by the West Chicago Middle School choir, St. Mary's School Choir, and Church of the Resurrection's own musicians. A special crafts area will be set up for children to create their own holiday gifts. And of course there will be free holiday treats, including homemade cookies and fair-trade coffee from Rwanda.
