The City of Calgary Working With Apex IT to Implement an HR Service Desk That Will Provide Better Service to 16,000 Employees

City Expects Project to Increase Employee Satisfaction and Give HR Staff a Better Tool With Which to Serve Their Clients

MINNEAPOLIS, MN and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - November 12, 2007) - Apex IT (http://www.apexit.com) -- one of the nation's leading Oracle® Corporation (Oracle) systems integration (SI) partners -- is working with the city of Calgary (http://www.calgary.ca) to implement Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise HR HelpDesk application in order to further automate and streamline the city's front-line employee support and service operation. The city of Calgary, one of the largest employers in Western Canada, has a regular employee base of some 12,000 people. That base grows by an additional 4,000 from April to October as requests for seasonal services spike. Apex IT and the city of Calgary are delivering a joint presentation on the HR HelpDesk project this year at Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco. That presentation is scheduled to take place from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at the Moscone Convention Center (West) in downtown San Francisco.

When the three-phased implementation is completed in early 2008, Calgary will have a web-based HR HelpDesk system that will allow the HR Service Center staff to better handle and track individual employee HR service requests. For employees and applicants, the new PeopleSoft HR HelpDesk application means improved self-service capabilities. By leveraging the system's Knowledge Repository, employees will eventually have the ability to not only log and manage their own service requests, but resolve them, too. Calgary's new PeopleSoft HR HelpDesk application replaces its HR Service Center's overworked legacy system, a system that was proving increasingly untenable as the city's diverse and distributed employee base continues to grow.

"Implementing this new HR HelpDesk application is a win-win for both our HR family and for our employees at large," says Calgary's Enterprise Support Systems Manager Gilles Champagne, who is co-presenting with Apex IT at OpenWorld. "In addition to providing a better employee experience and increasing user satisfaction, the new HR HelpDesk application will give our HR staff a better tool with which they can help our various operating divisions manage their people, which are, after all, their biggest asset. This is really important to us because if we can reduce the administrative burden on our operating divisions, their staff will have more time to devote to meeting the needs of our citizens."

Additional Benefits
In addition to quality, timely and reliable service, the system Apex IT is
implementing will also provide additional benefits for the city of Calgary:
-- Improvement in productivity;
-- Ensured, secure data integrity;
-- Proactive case management integrated with self-service to improve
   employee satisfaction;
-- Robust knowledge management that can be leveraged via self-service;
   and
-- Integration with its PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management
   application suite, computer-telephony integration, and multi-channel
   communications for email response management.

Apex IT CEO Eric Steege praised the city of Calgary for its foresight in initiating the project. "One of the most important missions of Human Resources is employee retention to prevent turnover, which [when unchecked] leads to a much higher cost of doing business. Calgary is a city on the leading edge of utilizing an HR Service Desk as a way to improve employee relations and strengthen loyalty."

In addition to helping the city of Calgary, Apex IT is helping other organizations meet their HR HelpDesk goals, including Princeton University, Boeing, American Electric Power and Medtronic.
