Clenergen Corporation: Biomass Cultivation for the Production of Green Electricity

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwire - Aug. 6, 2009) - Clenergen Corporation offers strategic Clean Energy Generation projects to address the requirement for renewable and sustainable supplies of electricity. Clenergen has developed a unique model designed specifically for large end users, mining operations and municipalities encompassing a strategy of a closed loop cycle for producing, proprietary renewable power production. The model marries significant proprietary advancements in plant -science with proven long standing engineering technologies to achieve this goal.

The company has conducted extensive research and development into various forms of feedstock, for the purpose of generating carbon neutral electricity from biomass, directly cultivated from plantations for use with gasification technology. In April 2009 the company acquired the assets of Enhanced Biofuels and Technologies Limited (EBT) which included but not limited to three year's research and development of non edible vegetable oils, emulsified fuels and biomass feedstock for the purpose of producing biofuels and bioenergy.

The primary feedstock selected for producing biomass originates from a species of tree of Asian origin which is capable of yielding up to 40 tons of biomass per acre within 18 months from planting and re-grows from its stub on an annual basis, with potential yields exceeding 60 tons per acre by year 3. By applying a scientific "Tree Adaption Process (TAP) to the mother stock of the tree, field trials have proven that by doubling the number of chromosomes ("on demand"), the growth rate of the tree is increased by up to 40%. The cultivation of high-density, short-rotation biomass crops on a commercial scale results in a cost of production equivalent to or less than the price of coal (measured in energy terms - MM/Btu) using a proprietary integrated plantation model, and (2) to produce power through advanced gasification technologies. As a secondary feedstock, Clenergen has selected a variety of bamboo, capable of yielding in excess of 60 tonnes by year 4 and thereafter annually for up to 20 years.

The Clenergen Management recognized very early in the investment cycle of future power production platforms that a large and investable gap existed in the area of co-generation / co-gasification, using biomass alone or in conjunction with standard hydrocarbon fuels, such as petcoke and coal dust. The company is in the process of conducting tests involving a blend of biomass with Petcoke and Coal Dust with the objective of lowering sulphur and carbon emissions while increasing the energy efficiency of the power plants.

The company intends to generate in excess of 500MW of power over the next five years at strategic locations in India and Africa, as well as engage in plantation programs in South America in order to export up to 6 million tones of wood chips per annum to USA and European biomass and co-fired power generation plants.
