Click & Pledge Selects Coyote Point's E650GX to Support Donations for Haitian Disaster Victims

Click & Pledge Ensures 100% Availability of Their Online Fundraising Service by Deploying a Redundant Pair of Coyote Point Equalizer Application Delivery Controllers to Support a Worldwide Celebrity Benefit for Haiti Disaster Relief

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - January 27, 2010) - Coyote Point Systems Inc., a pioneer in application acceleration and load balancing solutions, today announced that Click & Pledge, leading provider of online fundraising solutions for nonprofit organizations, successfully handled a record setting pledge drive on Friday, January 22, providing 100% application availability, higher performance and increased security following the installation of a redundant pair of Coyote Point Application Delivery Controllers.

"Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" aired around the world on Friday, January 22 in an effort to raise money for the disaster victims in Haiti. The star-studded event could be seen on all the major television networks, cable channels and online and featured musical performances from New York, London and Los Angeles.

The number of visits to the pledge site, hosted by Click & Pledge, has been greatly accelerated by the worldwide response and outpouring of support for the Haitian disaster victims. With a sterling reputation for customer satisfaction, Click & Pledge continues to exceed expectations with their web services for accepting donations. With the Haiti disaster, Click & Pledge once again turned to Coyote Point to ensure that its IT system would not be challenged by unusual system demands. And they did it in two days.

In addition to natural disasters and extraordinary situations, Click & Pledge has successfully supported the fundraising efforts of numerous organizations on events like The Millions More Movement and ABC's Extreme Home Makeover; all which require exceptional performance and ability to scale in order to handle the spikes in traffic.

"With an extremely tight schedule and stringent performance and security requirements, we turned to Coyote Point for their application delivery and acceleration expertise," said Kamran Razvan, chief executive officer of Click & Pledge. "We simply want to be certain that our systems always outperform demand," Razvan said. "We put our developers to work building out our application delivery infrastructure and called Coyote Point to order a pair of Equalizer E650GX application delivery appliances. Based on past experience, we knew that the combination of security, acceleration, data compression and load balancing provided by the E650GX would enable us to meet the demand this benefit is expected to create."

Coyote Point rush shipped a pair of E650GX appliances to the Click & Pledge data center and provided technical expertise to help implement a failover configuration ensuring that the Click & Pledge service would be ready to efficiently and securely accept thousands of simultaneous encrypted web sessions.

"The required security protocols like SSL/TLS put a severe load on web servers," said Bill Kish, Coyote Point's Alpha Coyote and CTO. "The hardware acceleration technology built into the Coyote Point E650GX allows the web servers to offload and process the encryption, freeing them up to handle 90% more traffic."

This offloading of the extremely CPU intensive encryption processes by the Equalizer allowed Click & Pledge's servers to handle thousands of visitors at any given time during the drive while Equalizer's Express™ compression technology delivered page content at unprecedented speeds. As Click & Pledge's Razvan says, "When people are taking the time to give to those in need, we want to deliver the best experience possible by making the process faster and more secure. The faster we move them through the donation process, the faster we can get resources into the hands of those helping the disaster victims."

Donations made through the website were distributed to Yele Haiti, The Road to Hope of Haiti, Saint Boniface Haiti Foundation, Mission Haiti, Inc. and Haiti Community Support, Inc. These organizations continue to be engaged with the relief effort as they look to add to the millions of dollars already raised for the people of Haiti.
