JACKSONVILLE, FL--(Marketwire - December 7, 2009) - Cliqset, the real-time community, today
announced they will power real-time discussion on Boxee for the livestream
of the Boxee Beta Unveiling event.
On December 7, Boxee, the first "social" media center, will demo the next
evolution of their software (beta), preview the Boxee Box, and present new
content partners. As the official social Boxee partner for the unveiling,
Cliqset's application will be integrated with the livestream of the event
on Boxee, giving the entire Boxee community a real-time social discussion
experience as they watch the event on Boxee. Together, Boxee and Cliqset
spearhead an emerging trend of socializing online-video, thereby rendering
the Web more open and engaging.
Tonight, viewers will be able to either sign in anonymously or create a
Cliqset account to connect with others watching and discussing the event.
To access the Boxee event, load the Boxee application on December 7 at 7:00
p.m. ET and click on Boxee Beta Unveiling in the Recommendations section of
the home page.
"We're enthusiastic about our partnership with Boxee and excited to power
real-time discussions -- an important element to help virtual attendees
connect with the event and with the entire Boxee community," said Darren
Bounds, president and co-founder of Cliqset.
"Boxee is evolving what people expect from TV, as we develop innovative
ways for them to interact with what they're watching, online and offline,"
said Avner Ronen, co-founder and CEO of Boxee. "Real-time interaction and
social viewing is becoming increasingly important, and Cliqset has built a
digital 'water cooler' that provides Boxee users with a platform on which
to live chat about our event, or about any other content on Boxee."
Cliqset's real-time community is
a place where people can share, discover, and discuss content with friends
from around the Web. Announced in October, Cliqset's Boxee application lets users
start a discussion with their friends in real-time while watching TV
episodes, movies, or other entertainment on Boxee. The unique application
built for TVs also allows viewers to keep up with what their friends are
doing across over 70 social networks. To connect to Cliqset's Boxee
application, sign up for Boxee at http://www.boxee.tv and then add the
Cliqset application from the Boxee App Box. In a continued effort to foster
openness and innovation on the Web, Cliqset is also making its development
library available so developers can write real-time applications for Boxee.
Boxee allows users to access free high-quality online TV shows, movies,
music, and photos, in addition to their local media, within an interface
optimized for TV and remote. Since they launched last June, more than half
a million people have downloaded the software for Mac, Linux, and Windows
computers. You can learn more about Boxee from http://www.boxee.tv.
