Jeff Hammerbacher, Co-founder and Vice President of Products at Cloudera, is taking part in a panel discussion about analytical workloads in the cloud at the Stanford Computer Forum InfoLab Workshop on Thursday, April 29th at 3:00pm.

Recently named a 2010 Best Young Tech Entrepreneur by Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Hammerbacher has worked to make it easy for enterprises to quickly analyze large data sets. He came to Cloudera from Facebook, where his team produced the Apache projects Hive, a data warehouse infrastructure built on top of Apache Hadoop that allows querying the data using a SQL-like syntax, and Cassandra, a distributed storage system designed to scale across commodity servers.

Chaired by Professors Hector Garcia-Molina and Jennifer Widom, the conversation will center on new data management models and systems and how they fit into the cloud computing landscape. Panelists include Mike Carey of UC Irvine, Raghotham Murthy of Facebook, Christopher Olston of Yahoo! Research, and Oliver Ratzesberger of eBay.

Cloudera provides products, professional services, technical support and training that complement the popular Apache Hadoop open-source software package, enabling enterprises to lower their data-processing costs and get more value from the information they collect and generate. Hadoop is widely used in finance, government, telecom, media and entertainment, technology, research institutions and other markets.
