Coastal Hotel Group Selected to Manage Historic Lodge on the Desert in Tucson, Arizona

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 7, 2006 -- Coastal Hotel Group has been selected to manage the historic Lodge on the Desert in Tucson, Arizona according to Yogi Hutsen, Coastal's President & CEO.

Says Hutsen, "Lodge on the Desert is another exciting addition to the Coastal portfolio, both because of its charm and the ever-growing demand for quality resort lodging in Tucson. Located near the University of Arizona, the Lodge already is a popular venue for small meetings and social events, particularly weddings. To assume management of the Lodge now will allow us to oversee its expansion to 100 guest rooms, plus additional meeting and banquet space, and a spa. We are grateful to Dan Donahoe of Lodge Partners for entrusting Coastal Hotels to manage this wonderful Tucson resort.

Adds Donahoe, "An extensive knowledge of hotel management and marketing, especially here in Tucson, is what impressed me about Coastal's leadership. Since his time as General Manager of the then Sheraton El Conquistador Resort, Yogi has continued his professional and personal ties to Tucson. And Ed Schwitzky, Coastal's Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, has spent over twenty years with Westin Hotels & Resorts in Arizona. I am very pleased to have the Coastal team in place now and for the evolution of Lodge on the Desert as a premier boutique hotel."

Lodge on the Desert was designed as a private residence and completed in 1931. The two-acre estate included a corral and bunk house. In 1936 the home was sold and the new owner opened for business as Lodge on the Desert with seven rooms, all made of adobe brick. A year later another guest room and swimming pool were added. The Lodge has since been operated as a resort facility, except during World War II when it served as an apartment hotel for service personnel. Between 1952 and 1973, additional guest rooms were constructed. In 1997, Lodge Partners purchased the resort and completely refurbished all 35 guest rooms, expanded the kitchen and restaurant, and added a patio and lounge.
