CommonHealth's Beth Wiesner Named Woman of the Year by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwire - June 18, 2010) -  CommonHealth today announced that Beth Wiesner, director of editorial services at the organization's group, Carbon was named 2010 Woman of the Year by the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society (LLS) at the charity's annual dinner held on June 11, at the Princeton University's Prospect House in Princeton.

Carbon is a CommonHealth professional advertising and promotion agency created to serve the marketing needs of emerging technology/specialty brands. CommonHealth (www.commonhealth.com) is the world's leading healthcare-communications network and a WPP (NASDAQ: WPPGY) (www.wpp.com) company.

Ms. Wiesner's commitment and dedication to fundraising efforts for LLS led to her nomination as Woman of the Year. She was one of 11 women nominated for the title and in just 10 weeks, she raised more than $57,000 which goes toward research and financial aid for patients who cannot afford medication. Ms. Wiesner first became involved with LLS in 2008, after her husband began an intensive chemotherapy regimen for lymphoma. In 2008, she raised just shy of $20,000 for the Hike for Discovery (HFD) Campaign, which in 2009 merged with Team in Training, the largest sports charity program in the world, making her the top fundraiser for the HFD campaign in the country.

Ms. Wiesner had the help of several corporate sponsors on her Woman of the Year fundraising campaign. The largest corporate sponsors were the Hackensack University Medical Center, CommonHealth and Buck Consultants. She also received large private donations, as well as countless donations from friends and family.

Ms. Wiesner shared, "When people ask me 'What did you get out of being named Woman of the Year?' I reply, 'A huge amount of personal satisfaction. Raising more than $57,000 in such a short time was a huge achievement and I couldn't have done it without everyone's help.' If the money I raised could help prevent just one family from going through what we are going through now -- and have been through once before -- then mission accomplished."

"CommonHealth was absolutely amazing -- the support I received here has been remarkable, especially the various fundraising events held by the organization. Since day one, care and generosity of my colleagues has been extremely heartwarming," she concluded.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. LLS's mission is to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since the first funding in 1954, LLS has awarded more than $680 million in research funding. To read more about the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society please visit www.leukemia-lymphoma.org.
