Computacenter, PLC Uses Embotics' V-Commander to Improve Data Center Efficiency by More Than 30 Percent

Virtualization Management Solution Provides Ongoing Visibility, Automation and Control to Offload Data Center Administrators and Remediate Virtual Sprawl

OTTAWA--(Marketwire - January 13, 2010) - Embotics, the Virtualization Automation and Control Company™, today announced that Computacenter, PLC is using Embotics' V-Commander to improve their virtual data center efficiency and discovered more than $200,000 in virtual waste within the first day of deployment. V-Commander helps Computacenter reduce virtual sprawl, optimize virtualization resources and reduce ongoing support and administrative costs, improving data center efficiency by more than 30 percent.

Computacenter is an IT infrastructure services provider with 10,000 employees in offices in the U.K., Germany, France, Spain and more. Having first deployed server virtualization in 2007, the company leverages Embotics' V-Commander to automate the predominantly manual activity of managing their virtual infrastructure, policing corporate regulations and improving troubleshooting. The out of the box management automation provided by V-Commander enabled Computacenter's three administrators to free up time for long-term capacity management and planning of the overall virtual environment.

"We needed a solution that standardized and automated the management of our virtual infrastructure," said Ian Scanlan, Information Systems Operations Manager of Computacenter. "V-Commander was up and running within two hours, immediately identifying significant wasted storage space, and saving administrative effort, resources and time. The solution did not disrupt our current operations or require much training, while also providing immediate ROI and ongoing value."

V-Commander helps Computacenter automate basic administrative processes and provides real-time information that grants valuable oversight into the environment. Additionally, within the first day of deployment, Computacenter was able to group, view and manage virtual machines based on criteria for virtualization optimization and immediate recovery of more than three terabytes of disk storage.

"Embotics is dedicated to helping customers realize the maximum value of their virtualization investments through automation, management and control," said Jay Litkey, CEO and founder of Embotics. "Automation is essential for effective management of virtual infrastructures, and yet IT organizations do not have the available time that traditional automation solutions require. V-Commander provides pragmatic management and automation right out of the box, allowing customers like Computacenter to clean up sprawl, and enabling administrators to manage by exception rather than through manual effort."
