Con-way Truckload Regional Expanding to Meet Customer Demand

Company Will Add 300 Trucks and Increase Operations in 10 States After Successful 2009 Launch

JOPLIN, MO--(Marketwire - December 7, 2009) - Con-way Truckload, a full truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced that, in response to customer demand, it is expanding its regional service with increased operations in 10 U.S. states. Con-way Truckload Regional covers short-haul truckload shipments of less than 600 miles, including cartage service for truckload shipments of less than 100 miles. In the future, the company plans to add drayage service to the offering.

Con-way Truckload Regional will launch the expansion in January with significant growth in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. The company will add 300 trucks to its fleet by the end of 2010 to accommodate the additional business. It now has 300 drivers operating regionally across 11 states and plans to continue to improve its footprint in currently serviced regions.

"In Con-way Truckload, we've found a reliable carrier with the resources to offer a diverse portfolio of services and the commitment to offering solutions that consistently support our service requirements," said Andrew Quay, VP of Transportation, QVC, Inc. "With their on-time performance ability and dependable drivers and equipment, they have the capacity and flexibility to quickly respond to changing conditions and surges in demand that many other carriers just can't offer."

The company introduced Con-way Truckload Regional in September, with features including:

-- Service-oriented, centralized dispatch plus the ability to tap into
the company's long-haul fleet when needed.
-- Reliable on-time performance exceeding 98 percent to help shippers
    meet time-sensitive delivery needs.
-- Industry-leading capacity with access to a select group of sister
company Con-way Freight's facilities across the country and some of the
    nation's safest, most experienced drivers.
-- The ability to meet diverse shipping requirements with the widest
portfolio of customized solutions for shippers, including long-haul,
consolidation and distribution and short-haul offerings.
-- The flexibility and resources of a dedicated regional fleet to meet
the needs of customers, especially those with seasonal surges.

"Con-way Truckload Regional has been a great success, and we've seen a clear demand for this offering in a growing number of regions," said Herb Schmidt, president, Con-way Truckload. "With our available network of secure, state-of-the-art facilities and the ability to expand without adding infrastructure, we see a tremendous opportunity for strategic growth. We're moving forward to maximize the potential of that opportunity."

Con-way Truckload began offering regional service in 2008 in a successful 18-month pilot program. The company's goal is to have at least 1,000 trucks dedicated to nationwide regional service by 2011.
