Conference Highlighting 130 Years of Dufferin Terrace

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 24, 2009) - As a part of Les Journees de la culture, Parks Canada, in partnership with La Societe historique de Quebec, invites the general public to attend a lecture on the 130 years of Dufferin Terrace and the Old Quebec funicular. The lecture will be given by Yvan Fortier, ethnohistorian at Parks Canada's Historical Services, on Saturday, September 26, at 3 p.m. at the Artillery Park, situated on 2 D'Auteuil Street.

Mr. Fortier is a specialist on the colourful history of this famed promenade which welcomes every year millions of visitors who have come to admire the majestic St. Lawrence River flowing under the shadow of Chateau Frontenac.

Parks Canada brings to a close the 130th anniversary of Dufferin Terrace and the event's visitor experience program by offering history buffs a lecture rich with anecdotes, developed from abundant documentation, and delivered by a speaker passionate about his subject.
