Consolidated Thompson Announces it Will Hold a Conference Call to Give an Update on its Bloom Lake Project

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 13, 2009) - Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Ltd. (TSX:CLM) ("CLM" or the "Company") announces that it will be hosting a conference call on Tuesday October 13, 2009 at 3 p.m. to give an update on its Bloom Lake project and its future plans.

On October 9, 2009, the Company had made an offer to purchase a 100% interest in the Wabush Mines joint venture. On October 12, 2009 the Company was informed, by way of a press release issued by Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. ("Cliffs") (NYSE:CLF)(Paris:CLF) that Cliffs plans to exercise its right of first refusal in order to acquire the interests it does not already own in the Wabush Mines joint venture.
