Correctional Service of Canada: Inmate Escapes From Minimum Security Pe Sakastew Centre

HOBBEMA, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 26, 2009) - At approximately 22:41 pm on July 25, 2009, inmate Melvin Kenneth THOM escaped from Pe Sakastew Centre. Police were notified and a warrant for the inmate's arrest was issued.

THOM is 22 years old, serving 2 years 3 months 1 day for Robbery, Mischief Under $5000, Fail To Appear, and Fail To Attend. His sentence commenced November 12, 2008.

THOM weighs approximately 150 pounds, and is 6'3" feet tall. He has a medium complexion with brown eyes and a shaved head.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of THOM is asked to contact police.

The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape.

Pe Sakastew Centre is a minimum-security facility in Hobbema, Alberta that accommodates 60 inmates.
