Correctional Service of Canada: Contraband Seizure at Bowden Institution

INNISFAIL, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 24, 2009) - At approximately 1730 hours on November 17, 2009, a correctional officer discovered a package concealed under some gravel outside the food service building.

The package contained THC that weighed 92.3 grams. Estimated institutional value for the contraband seized is $20,767.

Correctional Service Canada has a number of tools available that are consistently used in our efforts to control the flow of drugs into our institutions. These include such things as searches of offenders and visitors, ion scanners, drug dogs and searches of buildings and cells.

Bowden Institution is a federal institution in Bowden, Alberta with an offender population of 564 medium security inmates and 78 minimum security inmates.
