Correctional Service of Canada: Inmate Escape and Apprehension Riverbend Institution

PRINCE ALBERT, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2009) - RIVERBEND INSTITUTION - At approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 3, 2009, staff determined that inmate Lindsay Cuthand had left the institutional property.

The institution was placed on lockdown status to facilitate an inmate count. Staff conducted a search of the facility and surrounding property.
Cuthand was apprehended without incident a short time later in Prince Albert.

Lindsay Cuthand is serving a two year one month sentence for Break, Enter and Commit. His sentence commenced June 29, 2009.

Riverbend Institution has now returned to normal operations.

The Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and take all necessary measures to address safety and security issues stemming from this incident.

Riverbend Institution is a federal institution with a current population of 120 minimum security inmates.
