INNISFAIL, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - April 3, 2010) - Bowden -Institution was placed on general lockdown to facilitate a search of the Institution.
The lockdown and search are being conducted to ensure the ongoing safety and security of the institution, its staff and the inmates following the seizure of contraband items. This lockdown will remain in place until the search is completed and may take several days. Inmate visits and regular institutional routine have been cancelled until the search has been completed. The institution will return to normal routine when institutional managers have determine that it is safe to do so.
Bowden Institution is a federal penitentiary located between Innisfail and Bowden Alberta. Currently there are 560 offenders located at the medium security facility and 76 at the minimum security annex.
