Costco Wholesale Corporation Reports July Sales Results

ISSAQUAH, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 3, 2006 -- Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ: COST) today reported net sales of $4.48 billion for the four weeks ended July 30, 2006, an increase of 11 percent from $4.02 billion in the same four-week period of the prior fiscal year. For the forty-eight weeks ended July 30, 2006, the Company reported net sales of $53.23 billion, an increase of 11 percent from $47.78 billion during the similar forty-eight-week period of the prior fiscal year.

Comparable sales for the 4-week and 48-week periods ended July 30, 2006, were as follows:
