Crystal River Capital, Inc. Announces Tax Treatment of 2006 Dividend Distributions

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 24, 2007) - Crystal River Capital, Inc. ("Crystal River" or the "Company") (NYSE:CRZ) announced today the tax treatment of its 2006 dividend distributions on the Company's common stock.

During 2006, dividends on Crystal River's common stock totaled $2.71 per share. For stockholder tax reporting purposes, 100% of the 2006 distributions will be classified as ordinary, non-qualified dividends. A portion of the distributions will constitute excess inclusion income under Internal Revenue Code Section 860(E). The portion of the distributions constituting excess inclusion income will be provided by March 30, 2007. The following table summarizes the payments on a quarterly basis.
