Cubic Highlights Decades of Innovation at I/ITSEC

Products Include New Soldier-Friendly MILES Systems and Virtual-Reality Technology

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - November 30, 2009) - Cubic (NYSE: CUB) is celebrating 40 years of innovation in instrumented combat training with an original and inventive slate of new products, systems and services at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) from November 30-December 4 in Orlando.

"Cubic has a long history and today holds air superiority in the combat training systems that train the world's best combat pilots. Our new live and virtual ground combat training systems and services fuse soldier-tech with the latest in consumer electronics and gaming technologies. Cubic is harnessing the power of creativity to make a difference in combat training for the U.S. and its allies," said Brad Feldmann, President of Cubic Defense Applications, Inc., Cubic's defense systems business.

A noteworthy highlight of this year's I/ITSEC is COMBATREDI, Cubic's first foray into "virtual reality" training. Developed in Orlando, COMBATREDI will be highlighted every hour on the hour in Cubic's booth during I/ITSEC. COMBATREDI consists of a helmet-mounted display, a tactical manworn system with wireless communication, a simulated weapon and a sensor suite for tracking soldier movements during infantry training in an immersive 360 degree virtual battle space. COMBATREDI draws on Cubic's years of experience in developing the popular EST 2000 Engagement Skills Trainer, a U.S. Army-validated virtual trainer used for teaching marksmanship, collective and judgment skills.

Cubic's booth, No. 1433, will also highlight:

AIR COMBAT TRAINING SYSTEMS: Cubic's P5 Combat Training System/Tactical Combat Training System (P5CTS/TCTS) is being fielded this year to the two sites where instrumented air combat training began -- Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in Arizona and MCAS Miramar in San Diego. Visitors to Cubic's booth can step back into history as they view Cubic's video about TOPGUN and the world's first instrumented air combat training system, and fast forward to the present with displays showing Cubic's current fifth-generation P5 air combat training technology.

GROUND COMBAT TRAINING SYSTEMS: Cubic will promote its advanced MILES Individual Weapon System (MILES IWS) for dismounted soldiers. Superior to previous MILES systems, MILES IWS and its wireless variation are lighter, highly portable and interoperable with other live, virtual and constructive training systems. MILES IWS also offers improved weapon alignment. Cubic will also unveil a new MILES Tactical Combat Vehicle System for training of armor personnel. Soldier-friendly user features include an iPod loaded with easy to use installation instructions.

VIRTUAL TRAINING SYSTEMS: In addition to COMBATREDI and EST 2000, Cubic will highlight the Reconfigurable MRAP Vehicle Trainer (RMVT) -- a joint full-motion simulator for MRAP (Mine Resistance Ambush Protected) vehicles during a news conference and by special invitation at its Orlando facility. The Reconfigurable MRAP Vehicle Trainer is a joint effort of Cubic and Thales USA.

PUBLIC SAFETY & SECURITY: Cubic will showcase its new Security Management System, an affordable system for tracking people, vehicles and supplies. The Security Management System features easy-to-operate situational awareness displays for an instant location of resources. Key components include small, lightweight tracking modules; a transmitter/receiver and antenna; and a laptop computer with intuitive display software, including an interface to Google Earth.

MISSION SUPPORT: Cubic's Mission Support Services will highlight its joint forces and logistics support, computer-based simulation and modeling, weapons training and military advisor training capabilities. Cubic will also promote cutting-edge educational technologies including distance learning, game-based learning, digital storytelling and podcasting.
