Customers Drive New Release of Storactive LiveBackup

Storactive's Established Customer Base Contributes to Improvements in Company's Transparent CDP Technology

MARINA DEL REY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 5, 2005 -- Storactive® Inc., the leader in continuous data protection (CDP) technology, today announced the release of LiveBackup 2.9. Storactive LiveBackup® provides completely automatic and transparent backup for Windows desktops and laptops in the global enterprise. This latest release of LiveBackup achieves the product's highest levels of transparency. The LiveBackup end-user experience is best compared to experiences with modern anti-virus applications; end-users are aware of LiveBackup only during recovery operations. The backup process runs automatically, continuously and transparently and requires no interaction from the end-user. To further the company's innovation in CDP and achieve this breakthrough in LiveBackup 2.9's transparency, Storactive engaged in close collaboration with its customers.

"As a veteran player in CDP, Storactive expertly leverages their diverse customer base throughout the product development process, and their products reflect customer requirements well," said Brad O'Neill, Senior Analyst at Taneja Group. "This customer-centric approach is especially evident in LiveBackup features and capabilities, such as its transparent operation and high scalability."

Storactive has been working with IT administrators throughout the development process of LiveBackup 2.9. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District has been running 1,000 seats of LiveBackup for a year. Their IT Specialist, Mark Kash said, "One of the unexpected benefits of being a LiveBackup customer is the open communication with the company. We have had the opportunity to directly influence capabilities of LiveBackup 2.9." Steve Smith, IT manager for the Sunnyvale campus of St. Jude Medical's Cardiac Rhythm Management Division, noted, "LiveBackup 2.9's transparency to end-users is a critical factor in the success of our client backup initiative. Storactive has achieved a winning formula for client backup."

Veteran Storactive customer Trimble deployed LiveBackup over two years ago for their mobile sales team. Shawn Wilde, CIO at Trimble said, "Storactive is 'all-ears' to customer feedback, and we enjoy our ongoing relationship with the company. LiveBackup 2.9 provides data protection to some of our most valuable employees and additionally, it increases the productivity of our helpdesk team."

In addition to heightened levels of transparency, new capabilities in LiveBackup 2.9 include third-party vault backups and the universal boot image creator. LiveBackup's ability to perform third-party vault backups allows administrators to easily integrate LiveBackup into their overall data protection strategy regardless of the existing backup application or tape drive. LiveBackup's universal boot image creator aids in easy disaster recovery. LiveBackup 2.9 creates a generic boot-up CD for a wide variety of hardware configurations. This enables administrators to use devices for disaster recovery that were not installed on the original system's hardware, such as a USB hard drive.

Storactive LiveBackup is transparent client-server, real-time CDP software that delivers automatic data backup, reliable self-service file recovery and easy disaster recovery for Windows desktops and laptops. The product's file-based CDP architecture enables easy file recovery from any previous point in time. LiveBackup offers comprehensive system maintenance tools including System Rollback for rapid point-in-time recovery and bare metal restore for complete system restores from scratch. This award-winning software is in use by large enterprises including Fortune 500 companies and major federal government institutions.
