Cypress Debuts Major League Soccer Mobile Application During Microsoft MIX10 Conference Keynote

MLS Mobile Application Features Real-Time Stats, High-Quality Video and Advanced Notification Options -- Even When Application Is Turned Off

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - March 29, 2010) -  Cypress (, a Seattle-based business consulting, technology and creative services firm, today announced the debut of its newly developed Major League Soccer (MLS) mobile application for Microsoft's Windows ® Phone 7 Series. The MLS application is a rich-media mobile application specially designed for Microsoft's next generation mobile platform and features real-time game scores and stats, league standings, player stats, and video clips, as well as an advanced notification system that enables users to receive scheduled alerts even when the application is not running.

"We've announced a number of new and exciting details about developing for Windows Phone 7 Series, and as a result we have seen some great new applications like Cypress' MLS application," said Charlie Kindel, partner group program manager for the Windows Phone 7 Developer Experience Microsoft. "Innovative applications like this one provide people with a great experience and access to information that matters most to them."

The Cypress MLS application offers fans a detailed 'push' notification system that showcases four options for receiving updates when the application is off. These include notifications for 'when my club scores,' 'when my club wins,' 'when the match is complete,' and 'my club news updates.' Once the notifications are set, the application is closed and only triggered to report back to the user if a notification is available. The application is also configured to provide a high level summary in portrait mode, and upon switching to a horizontal orientation, render a wider page with additional game details as well as information on other games, links to stats and video clips.

"As a trusted Microsoft resource, the opportunity to be part of the Windows Phone 7 Series launch is incredible," said Nate Thompson, CEO of Cypress. "We leveraged our deep experience in Silverlight and developing interactive sites and tools for a variety of sports businesses to create a brand new experience for mobile users. Now Major League Soccer fans can have the information they want at their fingertips, wherever they are, and customized to their preference for when and what information they receive."

Most recently, Cypress was recognized for its development of the New Orleans Saints Website, which hosted more than 4 million users on Super Bowl Sunday. The company has also played an instrumental role in enabling other sports and team management companies to leverage technology for improving the fan experience, integrating interactivity into their brands, and ultimately increasing bottom line revenue. The MLS mobile application will ship with the new Windows Phone 7 Series later this year.
