D-Link 802.11n Routers Earn 'Compatible With Windows 7' Logo and Placement in Microsoft Stores

Testing Ensures Compatibility, Reliability and Quality User Experience

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA--(Marketwire - October 27, 2009) - D-Link, the end-to-end computer networking solutions provider for consumer and business, today announced that two of its popular home network routers will be sold in Microsoft Corp.'s new retail stores opening in Mission Viejo, Calif. and Scottsdale, Ariz.

The DIR-615 Wireless N Router and DIR-655 Xtreme N® Wireless Router were selected to be the exclusive home routers available in Microsoft's first retail "brick and mortar" operations. They, along with several other of D-Link's family of routers with the latest 802.11n wireless technology, recently passed Windows 7 testing, qualifying them for the "Compatible with Windows 7" logo program.

Officially launched on Oct. 22, Windows 7 is the latest version of the Windows operating system for use on personal computers. The "Compatible with Windows 7" logo program is designed to help companies develop systems and devices that have been tested to ensure that they meet Microsoft standards for Windows 7, with the goal of improving usability for the customer.

The D-Link® Wireless N Router (DIR-615) was one of the first routers on the market to be tested as compatible with Windows 7. The following D-Link routers have been tested for compatibility and have qualified to display the "Compatible with Windows 7" logo on their packaging:

DIR-855 Xtreme N® Duo™ Media Router
DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router
DIR-685 Xtreme N Storage Router
DIR-655 Xtreme N Wireless Router
DIR-628 RangeBooster N® Dual Band Router
DIR-615 Wireless N Router
DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router

"Due to the automatic setup and connectivity capabilities built into Windows 7, it's easy to get the most out of your D-Link network. Microsoft, with Windows 7, is looking at the bigger picture of the entire network and not just individual devices. Now, when you start plugging in all your devices, they will be auto-discovered and auto-configured," said AJ Wang, chief technology officer for D-Link. "This will help users realize additional functionality out of their networks and devices, and in the long run, this will help us lower support calls, benefiting the user and D-Link."
