DCH Regional Medical Center Finds Innovative Uses for Interbit Data's Information Distribution Software, Maximizing Its Time and Cost Savings

The Versatility of NetDelivery Offers "Limitless" Range of Applications for Hospital Departments Distributing Data and Reports to Multiple Recipients

NATICK, MA--(Marketwire - November 17, 2009) - Primarily used for electronically distributing patient data from healthcare IT systems (HCISs) via multiple channels, Interbit Data's NetDelivery has yielded a range of applications for DCH Regional Medical Center. As a result, the Tuscaloosa, Alabama hospital accelerated the return on its investment by saving multiple users and departments the time and costs of hand-delivering information. The organization currently saves $40,000 per year in printing and mailing costs alone and expects to save more as it further reduces mailing of documents.

DCH Regional Medical Center uses NetDelivery to securely and accurately send data and reports from the HCIS to doctor's offices, nursing homes, the Veterans Administration hospital, state mental health agencies and billing companies -- over 80 locations altogether. NetDelivery also distributes timesheets, direct deposit notices, and other documents from the hospital's human resources department to its employees.

"NetDelivery gives us the ability to push data through the Internet on-demand and deliver it faster and more reliably," said Kelly Wells, assistant director of IT, DCH Regional Medical Center. "The possibilities are almost limitless as far as what you can distribute. We've really just scratched the surface as far as what we can do with NetDelivery."

With NetDelivery, DCH Regional Medical Center can send files and data easily to multiple recipients, defining by user and location how the data is sent. NetDelivery offers 14 distribution methods, such as fax, email, file, or directly to printer, and distributes reports in PRN, TIF, TXT or PDF file formats. All Internet connections are validated and all data is encrypted using 128-bit encryption algorithms, ensuring and improving compliance with HIPAA.

"We used to courier or hand-deliver reports to physicians and others in our user community," added Wells. "But, with NetDelivery, we just start it up, run a report once and it's distributed immediately to multiple users, saving time and processing costs, increasing efficiency, and improving the hospital's effectiveness at delivering patient care."

The NetDelivery Distribution Wizard efficiently collates reports generated by the HCIS and directs them to the proper recipients based on user-defined rules using data extracted from the reports. Collating reports that are printed in batches saves time spent determining which reports go to each persons. By extracting the recipients and destinations from the reports, organizations increase the accuracy of who receives the report, improve security by not sending reports to the wrong persons, and save staff time and effort ensuring reports were received on time by the right person.

With NetDelivery with the Integration Module, data and reports generated by the HCIS are securely and reliably reformatted into HL7 messages and easily integrated in physicians' electronic medical records (EMRs). Integration with physicians' EMRs becomes as easy as printing a report. Once the report is in the physician's EMR, it looks the same as it did prior to the data transfer.
