DOLE Donates $5,000 to Seattle Food Bank Through Share the Goodness Contest

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - April 1, 2010) -  DOLE's Share the Goodness Photo Mosaic Sweepstakes winner -- Sarah Burai of Seattle, Wash. -- has chosen Northwest Harvest Food Bank to receive a $5,000 donation in her name.

Burai was recently announced as the Share the Goodness winner, an online sweepstakes that asked DOLE Canned Fruit lovers to share a favorite holiday memory by uploading a photo to the virtual DOLE mosaic poster. As the Grand Prize Winner, Burai won $5,000 for herself plus the $5,000 donation to the food bank of her choice. Burai selected Northwest Harvest as the recipient of the food bank donation, which arrives this week. Northwest Harvest plans to post the donation details on their Web site at: www.northwestharvest.org

"DOLE Canned Fruit is excited to make a positive impact in the Seattle community through this donation to Northwest Harvest," said Julia Pierrat, Associate Business Manager for DOLE Canned Fruit. "We hope the $5,000 will help this Food Bank continue to serve the community it's been helping for more than 40 years."

DOLE Canned Fruit comes in three different varieties: Mandarin Oranges, Pineapple and Tropical Fruit. All DOLE Canned Fruit is naturally fat free, saturated fat free, cholesterol free, and rich in vitamin C.

DOLE Canned Fruit also recently launched the California Cook-Off -- an online recipe contest that gives participants the chance to win a trip to Los Angeles and cooking experience with celebrity Chef Ben Ford. By submitting a signature entrée recipe that includes DOLE Canned Fruit or Juice at www.DoleCookOff.com, participants will automatically be entered to win the ultimate California cooking experience.
