Fete Celebrates Black History With Monthlong Series of Events


POMPANO BEACH, FL--(Marketwire - January 14, 2010) - The 2010 Pompano Beach Black History month Tiger Trail Festival is going to have folks running to victory, singing with their souls, celebrating their culture and dancing in the streets throughout Black History Month.

The festival will encompass a month of activities, including:

--  January 30 - William F. Boynton Memorial 5K Run/Walk
--  February 6 - Gospel Explosion concert featuring The Kings, Marie
    Wells, Second Chapter, The Woods and Hopewell Baptist Church Male Choir.
--  February 13 - Black Tie Gala honoring 32 "Men of Honor"
--  February 20 - Tiger Trail Street Festival featuring Ohio Players, Con
    Funk Shun, Bar Kays and Slave.
--  February 26 - Gospel Play "Watch Your Choices"
    

"Since the first Tiger Trail Festival in 1995, it has grown into a month long celebration of African American history and culture," said Tiger Trail Festival Chairman, Edward Phillips. "This year we have put together a full slate of activities and events that celebrate Black History Month, while also honoring Pompano Beach and the many people who make our community a vibrant place to live and work."

The highlight will be the free, all-day fete on February 20, which will include vendor booths, great food, church groups, a Kid's World fun area and a concert featuring the "Masters of Funk" Ohio Players, Con Funk Shun, Bar Kays and Slave.

The festival, which runs from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., will be located in the heart of Pompano Beach on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., between 6th Avenue and Dixie Highway.
