Dayton C. 'Buddy' Hahs Advances the Use of Energy Efficiency as Chairman of National Association of Energy Service Companies

Industry Luminary Completes Successful Two-Year Tenure as Head of America's Leading Energy Efficiency Trade Association

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - November 25, 2008) - Dayton C. "Buddy" Hahs has completed a successful two-year term as one of America's leading energy efficiency advocates in his capacity as chairman of the National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO).

Mr. Hahs, whose tenure at NAESCO ended on October 28, is president of Custom Energy Services. Custom Energy Services is a subsidiary of nationwide energy services provider ConEdison Solutions and is based in Overland Park, Kansas.

The National Association of Energy Service Companies is a national trade association that has been promoting the benefits of the widespread use of energy efficiency for more than 25 years.

"Energy efficiency stands as the foundation of a balanced, cost-effective and sustainable national energy policy," said Mr. Hahs. "During a period when energy savings have been uppermost in the minds of both private-sector and public-sector leaders, it has been a privilege to represent America's energy services sector in advancing the interests of this vital component of our economy.

"Over these two years, I am proud that all of us at NAESCO have made noteworthy progress in developing market opportunities for the energy services industry, while expanding our efforts to provide industry support and education."

Under Mr. Hahs's leadership, NAESCO played a prominent role in successfully advocating for permanent authorization of the Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) program under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. Under ESPC projects, federal agencies work with an energy services company (ESCO) to identify and implement energy-saving improvements. The ESCO arranges financing and guarantees that improvements will generate sufficient savings to pay for the project over the term of the contract.

Mr. Hahs also helped expand NAESCO's "green" energy programs through NAESCO testimony before the U.S. Senate in support of green jobs initiatives and by hosting a Green Jobs Fair. Under his leadership, NAESCO initiated the posting of jobs on the organization web site, published a report surveying America's ESCO industry, and launched a Federal Market Workshop to bring members and federal agency representatives together in a public forum to facilitate the use of energy efficiency and ESPC's at federal facilities. Mr. Hahs also opened a portion of each board meeting to all NAESCO members to better provide members with current information about energy policy challenges and the role of NAESCO in directly addressing those challenges on behalf of the industry.

"America's energy services companies have an outstanding team supporting their interests here at NAESCO," said Mr. Hahs. "I wish to thank executive director Terry E. Singer, President Donald Gilligan and our entire board and staff for their consistent support -- and for their commitment to our industry and to the goal of energy efficiency."

The National Association of Energy Service Companies is a national trade association that has been promoting the benefits of the widespread use of energy efficiency for over 25 years. On behalf of its membership, NAESCO works to help open new markets for energy services by directly promoting the value of demand reduction to customers through seminars, workshops, training programs, publication of case studies and guidebooks, and the compilation and dissemination of aggregate industry data.

NAESCO's members include firms involved in the design, manufacture, financing and installation of energy efficiency and renewable energy equipment and the provision of energy efficiency and renewable energy services in the private and public sectors. NAESCO members deliver about $5 billion of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects each year -- about equal to all of the energy efficiency projects delivered by all US utilities combined, according to a 2007 report by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
