Dayton Superior Selects Descartes' Hosted Transportation Management Solution

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 22, 2007) - Concrete accessories and forms manufacturer Dayton Superior Corporation selected The Descartes Systems Group Inc.'s (TSX:DSG)(NASDAQ:DSGX) hosted transportation management solution (TMS), Descartes Transportation Manager™, to help support its North American supply chain initiative.

Logistics software and services specialist Descartes said Dayton Superior selected Descartes Transportation Manager to support its corporate-wide inbound and outbound transportation planning and execution operations. Descartes Transportation Manager also enables the automatic tendering of loads to carriers, and greatly simplifies the communications with the carrier base.

"Descartes' Transportation Manager provides us with the opportunity to rapidly implement the solution in order to optimize our total transportation costs," said John Klima, Dayton Superior's Director of Transportation.

Dayton Superior selected Descartes after an extensive evaluation of leading TMS vendors. The company said Descartes was selected in part because of its speed to benefits, intuitive operation, complex optimization capabilities and straightforward deployment.

"The Descartes solution helps us achieve tangible value in two key areas," said Klima. "Descartes Transportation Manager's sophisticated load planning capabilities can help us efficiently manage the physical and human resources dedicated to our logistics function, and help us manage our variable transportation costs."

"Dayton Superior is a leader in its industry and a great example of how our solutions can provide a rapid impact to a company's transportation and customer service organizations," said Gregory Cronin, executive vice-president, sales and marketing. "Descartes Transportation Manager helps Dayton Superior efficiently make transportation arrangements for deliveries, so we're pleased we can be a part of their continued focus on delivering high-quality products and service to their customers."
