Delphi Technology Revs Up Hot Selling New Chevy Camaro

Advanced Safety, Climate Control, Electrical/Electronic Distribution and Powertrain Technology Onboard Popular Sport Coupe

DETROIT, MI--(Marketwire - April 19, 2010) - The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro features an array of advanced technology from Delphi Corp. The Camaro, which returned from hiatus in 2009 to finish within 5,000 units of segment leadership, is considered by many to be an American icon and one of the most popular sport coupes of all time.

Delphi engineers the safety, climate control, electrical/electronic distribution system and powertrain content that helps drivers and passengers of the new Camaro stay safe, comfortable and connected behind the wheel while boosting the vehicle's environmental friendliness.

Safe -- Delphi's passive occupant detection system is helping to enhance the safety of the Camaro. The system is designed to suppress airbag deployment for infants and children by classifying the occupant seated in the front passenger seat and providing occupant classification status to the vehicle's airbag controller. This next-generation technology makes implementation into the vehicle seat easier and reduces integration costs.

Delphi launched the first passive occupant detection system in 2001 and now offers a complete portfolio of occupant sensing products to meet standard to advanced airbag system needs.

Green -- Under the hood, Delphi's powertrain systems technology helps the Camaro achieve high-performance marks while also being kind to the environment.

Delphi engine computers power the performance of the new Camaro. Delphi's next-generation engine controllers are the brains behind achieving great acceleration while controlling emissions and getting the most from every drop of fuel. Delphi's engine controllers are complemented by evaporative canisters and engine sensors to help achieve these challenging goals.

Helping to keep occupants comfortable, Delphi's integrated advanced heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) modules are designed for world-class performance, reduced size, and lower mass. This includes a 10-piston AC compressor which is designed with internal lubricant separation and efficiencies that achieve output-to-input energy ratios of more than 2:1 for significantly-reduced AC related fuel usage. Passenger cool-down and warm-up rates for the systems are among the best in the industry since each component is engineered to maximize system efficiency in each application.

Connected -- Delphi supplies the electrical/electronic distribution system on the Camaro including primary wiring, electrical centers and connection systems. The electrical/electronic distribution system transmits information and assures the reliable delivery of power, signals and data across the network.

This electrical system provides the integration for the Delphi Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable assembly that allows consumers to stay connected while in the vehicle. This cable assembly runs from the vehicle's radio to a consumer port that allows drivers and passengers to access music files from flash drives and MP3 players and listen to them through the vehicle's audio system.

Conveniently located in the lower part of the center console, Delphi's sleek auxiliary displays help keep drivers connected to important vehicle information. Including information about transmission fluid and oil temperature, oil pressure, and battery voltage, the low-mounted four-pack provides instant feedback to drivers.
