Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland Leads Large Group of Irish Corporate Executives on 2009 Canadian Trade Mission

Deputy PM Mary Coughlan, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, and delegation to visit Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2009) - Ireland's Deputy PM Mary Coughlan will lead a trade mission to Canada October 18-21, 2009 to support Canadian/Irish business partnerships and to announce new commercial contracts and ventures. Ms. Coughlan and members of the delegation will arrive in Edmonton on Sunday, October 18 for Monday engagements. The Trade Mission continues Tuesday in Toronto with a series of meetings with industry and government officials. The delegation moves on to Ottawa the next day.

"Compared to many other countries, the Canadian economy has shown strength and resilience during the worldwide recession," said Deputy Prime Minister Coughlan. "Innovative Irish companies continue to establish meaningful partnerships in the robust Canadian marketplace, sustaining the historically strong Irish/Canadian trade relationship."

Irish/Canadian trade has grown significantly over the last several years, and despite the global economic downturn of the last 18 months, trade between the two countries has increased. In 2008, bilateral trade totalled $1.17 billion, while this year the Irish/Canadian relationship will exceed $1.3 billion. More than 45 Irish companies operate a total of 65 offices and facilities in Canada, employing almost 6,000 Canadians coast to coast.

Comprising the trade delegation are more than 50 corporate executives representing 35 high-profile Irish companies. Many of the Irish firms are taking this business development opportunity not only to network but also to make announcements over the three days highlighting the valuable trade partnership between the two countries. The Deputy Prime Minister made these announcements during the Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission to Canada:

People's Card Services, a division of Peoples Trust Bank, will work in conjunction with Ventek Systems lnc. to launch an instant access version of 3V's pay-as-you-go VISA voucher platform into the Canadian market in early 2010.

- Bord na Mona

-- Bord na Mona's Puraflo® system is the eco-friendly, high- performance, low-energy natural solution for residential and community wastewater treatment applications where simple, reliable operation and maintenance are required. Canada's EMCO's Waterworks Division will initially focus on expanding distribution for Bord na Mona's Puraflo® system.

- Execpass.com

-- The Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission marks the official launch of Execpass.com in Canada. The service allows users to look at investment opportunities for both Companies and Executives as well as providing a captive forum for the sharing of ideas and the solving of business-related problems within an Executive peer group.
