Destiny Acquires Rights to Logitech Digital Pen

GUILDFORD, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Dec. 21, 2007) - Destiny, a UK leader in mobile data solutions is to buy from Logitech the assets and intellectual property rights (IP) relating to Logitech's io2 digital pen. The latest generation io2 pen facilitates rapid data capture and transmission from digital forms using either a Bluetooth or USB connection, and incorporates a barcode reading facility.

Destiny will acquire the Logitech's io's IP, trading name and software, as well as dedicated tooling and stock.

This strategic move will enable Destiny to build further on their strong position with a 90% UK share of the B2B market for forms processing with digital pen and paper technology.

The purchase will provide Destiny with dedicated production capability, manufacturing economies of scale, R&D investment, brand awareness, and a significant increase in the overall value of their business. The i02 digital pens barcode reading capability, a key advantage for many digital pen applications, also brings technological and commercial differentiation.

Logitech will continue to manufacture the pens through an OEM agreement for 18 months, including full support, testing and warranty.

A further key aspect of the deal is that Destiny will establish a master reseller agreement with Anoto Group AB, whose technology is the core IP in digital pen & paper, enabling Anoto to supply the io2 pen to their other partners worldwide.

Logitech has made tremendous strides in opening the market for digital pen and paper solutions and we are excited that Destiny plans to carry the market forward. We are convinced that Destiny, with its focus and commitment on complete productivity solutions for the mobile workforce, will further strengthen our ability to meet and support the growing demand for digital pen and paper solutions worldwide", says Anders Norling, Anoto Group, CEO, Anoto Group.

As leaders in the UK B2B digital pen and paper forms processing market using Anoto Functionality™, Destiny will be able to create further opportunities for organisations with mobile workforces who adopt their integrated mobile data technologies.

Commenting on the acquisition, Edward Belgeonne said: "Destiny is committed to the Anoto technology and to building upon the Logitech digital writing solution for the many organisations around the world who gain productivity and efficiency from this technology. The Logitech io2 Digital Writing System has been a key component in our innovative, cost-effective solutions for mobile workers in healthcare, government agencies and many other organisations throughout the U.K. and in parts of Europe, Africa and Australia. As we take on responsibility for the io2 digital pen, we look forward to expanding our geographical reach to customers in North America as well as to more customers in Europe."
