Dickies: Nationwide Search for the Next Canadian Worker of the Year Begins Today

Dickies Canada is looking for the 2009 Canadian Worker of The Year.

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 4, 2009) - The second annual Canadian Worker of the Year award, created by Dickies Canada, is now seeking nominations. In 2008, the event's inaugural year, millions of Canadians were exposed to the promotion, which generated thousands of nominations from coast to coast. Gary Shaw of Meaford, Ontario captured the 2008 title as Dickies Canadian Worker of The Year, after being nominated by his daughter.

Dickies Canada, makers of guaranteed work wear since 1922, is proud to have worked closely with their promotional partners Dodge Canada, Sun Media, Bosch Tools and Corus Entertainment Inc. on both this and last year's event.

"The Canadian Worker of the Year is about recognizing the spirit and work ethic of Canada's work force," says Bill McFarlane, Vice-President of Marketing and Operations for Williamson-Dickie Canada Co. (Dickies). "We really want to thank our partners who did such a great job with us last year - and our team this year is looking forward to even greater success."

Celebrating the contributions and dedication of the Canadian worker, Dickies Canada asks Canadians to consider this question when making their nomination: What does doing a good job mean to you?

The search is open to all Canadian citizens, and individuals can nominate themselves or someone they feel is deserving of recognition. Nominations are being accepted as of May 29, 2009, and candidates are encouraged to visit www.canadianworkeroftheyear.ca or www.cwoty.ca to make their nominations.

On September 11th, 2008, four regional finalists (Western Canada, Central Canada, Eastern Canada and Quebec) will be selected by a panel of judges assembled by Dickies Canada. Nominations close August 28, 2009.

Canadian Worker of the Year nominees will have a chance to win a 2009 Dodge Ram pick-up truck - the proven vehicle that has helped workers get the job done since 1921. The grand prize winner will also appear in the Dickies 2010 Workwear catalogue.

All four regional finalists will each enjoy an all-expense paid trip for two to attend the Kawartha Speedway in Peterborough, Ontario. They all will also receive a Bosch cordless tool set and a prize pack of Dickies guaranteed quality work wear. A Dickies "Canadian Worker of the Year" search team, traveling with a 42' event trailer, will traverse Canada, making appearances at retail locations, construction sites, Dodge Rodeo events and NASCAR races.

"This is an exciting and rewarding effort that motivates our entire organization," say McFarlane. "Canadian workers are the cornerstone of our business and we want to recognize the incredible job they do, every day, to keep Canada's economy growing."
