Discera Secures Asia-Pacific Pipeline for Next Generation Timing Components

Excelpoint to Distribute Discera's CMOS MEMS Based Timing Products

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 29, 2006 -- Discera, Inc., a World Leader in CMOS MEMS resonator technology and provider of next-generation timing solutions, and Excelpoint, one of the leading electronic component distributors in the Asia-Pacific region, today announced a partnership to represent and distribute Discera's CMOS MEMS Resonator-based timing products. Excelpoint will represent Discera and distribute its products across the Asia-Pacific region, including some of the worlds largest and fastest growing electronics markets, such as the People's Republic of China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India.

Discera offers the industry's first proven CMOS MEMS-based resonators for the timing market. CMOS MEMS-based resonators enable electronics companies to overcome challenges posed by quartz crystal technology, which has been virtually unchanged for more than 50 years. The company's PureSilicon™ resonator technology is a fundamental building block that can be used in creating fully integrated, low cost, small form factor wireline and wireless products, such as oscillators, filters, and RF components. Unlike crystal-based timing products, Discera's PureSilicon CMOS MEMS Resonator-based timing products offer significant advantages in size, power, and cost along with exceptional quality and reliability.

The partnership with Excelpoint signals the readiness of Discera's technology for full-scale commercial deployment and will provide Asian manufacturers with a critical building block necessary to deliver revolutionary multifunction consumer electronic products. Through Excelpoint, Discera's timing technology will enable Asian manufacturers to dramatically reduce their time to market and overall costs while simultaneously meeting consumer demands for more sophisticated multifunction products that are smaller, more intelligent, require less power, and are easier to use.

"The Asia-Pacific market is now the primary battle front where next-generation, multifunction devices are being manufactured," Mr. William Low, vice president of operations, Excelpoint. "The competition is fierce and companies are constantly looking for breakthrough technology that can be embedded in their products to provide a distinct competitive advantage. Discera's products fit very well with our current product lines, and we are pleased to partner with Discera to provide superior timing technology to the Asia Pacific market."

"Timing components are the heartbeat of every electronic device," said Gene Jakubowski, vice president of sales, Discera, Inc. "By moving from quartz to CMOS, manufacturers of consumer electronics and other devices will realize a number of benefits including reduced footprint requirements, programmability and low power. We are excited about this partnership with Excelpoint and their breadth of market coverage to bring quality and excellence to the Asia Pacific electronics market."
