Disintegrator Needle Destruction Device Commences
Global Distribution; Groundbreaking Healthcare Product
Introduced in United Kingdom, Europe, and Australasia

BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio--(CCNMatthews - Jan 3, 2005) -

Safeguard Medical Technologies, LLC of Cleveland, Ohio, announces that
it has joined forces with British firm Environmental Asset Management
(EAM) to distribute worldwide the Disintegrator™, a revolutionary
needle/lancet destruction device. Throughout 2005, EAM will distribute
the Disintegrator™ in Europe and the United Kingdom, with
distribution slated in the same time frame for Australasia, a region
encompassing more than 30 countries, including Australia, Japan, New
Guinea, and New Zealand.

The pioneering Disintegrator™ portable unit utilizes a unique Plasma
Arc to melt hypodermic needles and lancets at a temperature of over 3000
degrees Fahrenheit, leaving a blunt, harmless nub at the end of the
syringe. Disposal is safe and immediate. A built-in rechargeable battery
disintegrates more than 100 needles between charges. Inserts are
included to accommodate all manner of insulin syringes, lancets, and pen
needles.

Safeguard President Joe Adkins states, "With tens of millions of insulin
syringes and needles entering the world's waste systems every day, safe
needle disposal has become a world-wide health and environmental
problem. The best place to eliminate a problem is at its point of
origin. Our Disintegrator products are the safe, efficient, and
cost-effective solution. Disintegrator is the new science in safe needle
disposal."

In just the USA, approximately 3.4 million people with diabetes
self-administer an estimated 1-2 billion injections per year. Every day,
up to 25 million insulin syringes and needles are introduced into the
United States environment alone. A U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services report states that an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 needlestick
injuries occur annually to doctors, nurses, laboratory staff and other
healthcare professionals using far fewer needles than are used outside a
clinical facility. Patients with diabetes are subject to punctures and
cuts in the home, and these injuries often lead to ulceration or
amputations. Many of these wounds are directly attributable to the
failure to properly dispose of used needles and sharps.

EAM operates internationally via the UK and Switzerland (EAM Sa.) to
provide quality services and innovative technologies in the area of
environmental management and renewable energy.

EAM CEO Bill Knoupe says, "The facts are clear that safe needle disposal
is an important health concern throughout the international community.
As human populations increase, the need to control the accompanying rise
in global wastes becomes ever more critical. The Disintegrator is the
perfect device, at the perfect time, to remedy this far-reaching
problem. EAM is excited to help introduce the health and environmental
benefits of the Disintegrator to markets across the globe."

The Disintegrator™ is available in the United States through the
manufacturer, Disintegrator Products™ via its web site,
www.disintegratorproducts.com, or their toll-free number 1-877-797-4277.
