Does Love Cause Love Handles? eDiets' Top 3 Tips to Boost Romance, Not Bulge

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwire - February 9, 2010) - With Valentine's Day right around the corner, eDiets.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: DIET), a leading provider of weight-loss services, announces top tips for being lucky in both love and weight loss.

A survey conducted by eDiets.com found that 57% of people felt being in a relationship has a negative effect on their waistline. Not surprisingly, 75% of people who responded to Is Love Making You Fat? said it was easier to maintain a diet when single.

So is it possible to stay healthy and in a relationship at the same time? eDiets Director of Nutrition Services Pamela Ofstein recommended tips to boost romance without tipping the scales, and our members ranked the top three tips in order. Their favorites are below:

1. Stop giving chocolate. The number-one-ranked tip for limiting love-induced weight gain was to give gifts that are calorie-free, our members especially loved flowers.

2. Get physical. Sounds pretty basic for Valentine's Day, being active together was viewed as a close number two and not just the more typical romantic activities, working out together even made the list. eDiets' Chief Fitness Pro, Raphael Calzadilla, put together a Valentine's Couples Workout.

3. Write love notes. Given the economic times this is not only an inexpensive way to show your love, but rounded out the top 3 for wonderful no-calorie love boosters.

eDiets member, Courtenay, says it best: "I am lucky in love because my husband loves me and supports me enough to resist the media pressure to buy me chocolates, but knows that flowers are calorie-free! He also doesn't mind when I take time to go for a run, and knows that I will look and feel sexier in my skinny jeans because of it."
