The products and services that make up our 2010 offer will once again let us differentiate our offering in the industry and support Canadian consumers in the ambitious renovation projects they will embark on next year."

"The products and services we have selected for 2010 are our response to customer expectations in terms of responsible consumption, style trends and innovation," added RONA executive vice president of merchandising Normand Dumont. "The 2010 offer presented at our Spring Show confirms RONA's position as industry leader and allows every RONA store to position itself as the leader in its own market."

New RONA ECO and eco-responsible products

In 2010, 150 new RONA ECO products and 500 new eco-responsible products will be added to the selection of items already available.

Since its launch in April 2008, the RONA ECO line has rapidly expanded and now features 370 products in different categories, such as paint, cleaning products, gardening, tools and building materials. To qualify for the name, a product has to meet strict criteria established by the International Chair in Life Cycle Assessment, which means that across its entire life cycle, it must leave a smaller footprint than an equivalent traditional product.

RONA eco-responsible products are also assessed using the life cycle approach and they have to exhibit a smaller footprint in at least one phase of the life cycle. Within one year, these items have grown from a group of fewer than 500 to over 1300, and they too are available in a number of different categories in stores. Furniture at RONA and 30 new RONA by Design concepts

In 2010, RONA will break new ground by offering, for the first time, a whole new line of furniture in order to expand and enrich its offer for consumers undertaking deco-renovation projects. The line includes furniture for audio-visual equipment, book shelves, chairs, armchairs and side tables. Complete furniture selections for the bedroom, living room and dining room will also be offered in the stores, supported by the new 2010 RONA by Design projects.

At the Spring Show, four new RONA by Design projects are presented in each of three styles - Oasis, Global Village and Spirit - for a total of 12 new unique and up-to-date projects. These designs give consumers access to inspiring new ideas for storage, bathrooms, decks and gardens.

The RONA by Design line will be expanded throughout the year with six additional series for the bedroom, office, kitchen, dining room, living room and Christmas. A total of 30 RONA by Design projects will be launched in 2010, including 450 products that will be readily identifiable in the stores. For more details, please visit www.ronabydesign.rona.ca.

RONA by Design is one of the company's truly distinctive features. The projects are designed and developed to help consumers decorate the interior and exterior of their homes to reflect their own tastes and the latest trends. Each project is actually a design blueprint that includes a selection of products that allows consumers to achieve affordable renovation projects on their own or with the help of professionals. RONA by Design projects are presented in three styles: Oasis, Global Village and Spirit.

RONA offers the latest decoration items for indoors and outdoors

For interior decoration, walls are a principal focus in 2010, dressed up in ceramic tiles, glow-in-the-dark wallpaper, decorative mirrors or metal wall decorations. One of the 2010 Heart Stoppers featured at the Spring Show is a RONA exclusive decorative wall clock that allows consumers to get creative by choosing the mechanism, colour and visual that best express their own tastes. Thanks to the new lighting products offered at RONA in 2010, wall decorations can be showcased by fashionable wall lights and suspensions, as well as transitional chandeliers that are midway between traditional and contemporary. The new collection also includes portable lamps made of crystal acrylic, with glass spheres and paper or linen shades.

But consumer needs and tastes do not restrict decoration to the inside of their homes. They want to extend that experience to the outside, so RONA is offering a complete integrated line of garden furniture, sun shelters, barbecues and other decor items to beautify gardens and decks and help consumers embrace the joys of outdoor living. This vast selection of seasonal products includes a patio set with an FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) recycled teak table, exclusive to RONA, and new types of outdoor plants. It also offers a varied assortment of new barbecues styled to suit the backyard, garden or deck. One special new item is a compact, round barbecue with a very contemporary look, ideal for apartments or condos, which will be featured in the 2010 RONA by Design deck and garden series.

More private brand products and four new controlled brands

In 2010, the RONA private brand will expand, and new controlled brands will appear in the RONA network: FACTO and UBERHAUS. In total, RONA offers a portfolio of 11 private and controlled brands, and every product is exclusive to the company. RONA's strategy of listening to its customers keeps the company at the leading edge of the industry.

The RONA, RONA X-PERT, RONA Collection and RONA ECO products are the company's true ambassadors, sold exclusively in RONA stores and offering an excellent quality-price ratio. New items for 2010 include a family of RONA brand sanitary products for the bathroom, FSC bamboo floor coverings and RONA collection door and trim paint.

RONA already offered three controlled brands through its network: PRO-PULSE, HAUSSMANN and HAUSSMANN X-PERT. This offer will be expanded in the hardware category with the launch of four new controlled brands: the entry-level FACTO; the mid-level UBERHAUS; and the top-of-the-line UBERHAUS DESIGN and UBERHAUS PRO. All these controlled brand products will be offered across the RONA network in all RONA, Reno-Depot and Totem stores.

New in hardware: tool lines, services and workwear

Exclusivity comes to the tool and garden furniture category with an expanded selection of power gardening tools and products that are also more environmentally friendly and less polluting. RONA is also expanding its controlled brands, including the PRO-PULSE line of electric and power gardening tools, to meet the needs of consumers looking for affordable prices. The recently launched HAUSSMANN and HAUSSMANN X-PERT lines will offer other exclusive products in 2010, including a saw for laminated and hardwood flooring, a market first.

To help consumers extend the life of their tools, RONA will offer a network of Canadian service and repair shops for its private and controlled brand electric and portable tools. A total of 230 Mecanair service and repair centres will be available across the country.

In the hardware sector, two new lines of workwear are presented at the Spring Show: an all-new line of men's clothing called Terra, and the Pilote & Filles brand for women, which is already available in the stores.

STUDIO by RONA

Two weeks after the official opening of three STUDIO by RONA boutiques in the Greater Montreal Area, and with a deployment plan that will roll out the new concept to other regions of Quebec and then across Canada, RONA is showcasing its new store concept at the Spring Show. Structured around a specific offer for each of three target groups - consumers, interior designers and professional painters - the STUDIO by RONA concept places colour front and centre of deco-renovation projects. It offers a line of 800 designer colours specially selected for STUDIO by RONA and a wide array of fashion products (paint, wallpaper, ceramic tiles, mouldings, floor coverings, window treatments and bedding), along with leading-edge services for its three target customer groups. In 2010, the STUDIO software program, created exclusively for RONA, will be launched to help consumers find the exact colours they're looking for.

STUDIO by RONA is a boutique concept that adds to RONA's network and can also be re-created inside a RONA proximity or big-box store. STUDIO is a true innovation in the deco-renovation market, targeting new customer groups and confirming the company's leadership in the industry. For more information, please go to studiorona.ca.

A line of automobile products that includes cleaning products, oils and accessories will help consumers with their car maintenance needs. RONA will also offer a line of small appliances and kitchen accessories.
