Donald L. Wiest II Named Chief Investment Officer at Midwest Banc Holdings

MELROSE PARK, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 31, 2006 -- Donald L. Wiest II, 53, has joined Midwest Banc Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MBHI) as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, based at the company's headquarters office in Melrose Park.

Wiest brings more than 25 years of experience in individual and corporate portfolio management to Midwest Banc Holdings, where he will be responsible for managing the firm's investment portfolio.

Prior to his new position, Wiest was Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Waypoint Bank in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Before joining Waypoint Bank, Wiest was an Assistant Vice President and Trust and Private Asset Manager at Mellon Bank in Harrisburg.

Wiest received a Master of Business Administration - Finance degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, in Bloomsburg. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University in University Park.

Wiest has been involved in several philanthropic endeavors, including service on the community advisory board of Pinnacle Health Hospice in Harrisburg. He was also active within Pennsylvania-based programs for the United Way, Penn State Children's Hospital, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Mechanicsburg-based United Methodist Children's Home.
